Argentinean band Babasónicos released last March 24 the second preview of what will be their new album. The new song titled “Bye Bye” was released along with a video, and they also took the opportunity to announce a homonymous new tour.
Babasónicos had been teasing with new music since they released last September their single “La Izquierda de la Noche.” The song was the first preview of their new album, which will be released at the end of April this year and would be the 13th of their discography. The song’s production started during the pandemic, which gave the band enough free time to experiment with music and play with new sounds in search of something fresh for their audience.
“Bye Bye” comes with a pop approach mixed with touches of electronic music, making it a catchy hit. Babasónicos describes the song as a “danceable fantasy infused with sexuality.” The lyrics talk about ephemeral relationships and how they can become routine and disposable.
The song is accompanied by an animated and somewhat explicit video clip that shows a man’s life surrounded by luxuries and comforts in which sex becomes just another daily task.
The track was mixed by Gustavo Iglesias, mastered by Greg Calvi and Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound Studios in New York. The cover art is by designer Alejandro Ros, and the video was directed by David Maruchniak, along with the creative direction of Juan Cabral.
Bye Bye Tour
Babasónicos will kick off their tour this upcoming month and visit Latin America and some European countries. They recently visited Spain with sold-out shows and took part in the closing of the Lollapalooza Argentina festival with more than 80 thousand people in the audience. The “Bye Bye Tour” will kick off in Montevideo, Uruguay, on April 1st and culminate in Berlin, Germany, on September 6th.
