The Addams Family has once again taken the world by storm. This time, the spotlight is on Wednesday Addams, as Netflix brought her teenage years to life. The series “Wednesday” was such a hit that it became the most-watched English-Language series in a week.
Not only that but the cast is filled with talented Latino actors. Here are some Latino actors that make part of this highly successful series.
Jenna Ortega
Jenna Ortega was born in Coachella Valley, California, to Mexican and Puerto Rican parents. Ortega has often spoken about how proud she is of her heritage. She even told Deadline, “Being Latina has always been really lovely for me. It’s something that I’m very proud of. I grew up in a community [Coachella Valley, California] surrounded by all kinds of Hispanics, which was really wonderful because I never grew up with any sort of shame or any sort of fear of my culture.”
The 20-year-old actress has played various roles, such as ‘Young Jane’ in “Jane the Virgin,” ‘Darcy’ in the Netflix series “Richie Rich,” and recently, ‘Vada’ in HBO Max’s movie “The Fallout.” While Ortega was already a young and successful actress, her role as Wednesday Addams truly has put her on the map.
The alternative role shows the scope of Ortega’s talent and creativity, and we cannot imagine a better person for the job.
Luis Guzman
Luis Guzman is the Puerto Rican actor cast as Wednesday’s father, Gomez Addams. He’s been in various movies and shows, such as “The Count of Monte Cristo,” “Puerto Ricans in Paris,” and “Narcos.”
According to Guzman, Tim Burton personally picked him for the role as a nod to the original 1930s cartoon drawn by creator Charles Addams. In the Rich Eisen Show, Guzman stated it was a “no brainer” to join the cast after reading the clever script.
Isaac Ordonez
Isaac Ordonez plays Pugsley Addams, Wednesday’s younger brother. Ordonez is of Mexican heritage and is off to a good start in his acting career. At only 12 years of age, he has previously landed a role in “A Wrinkle in Time” as ‘Charles Wallace Double.’
While he appears briefly in the series, this is his first major role in a TV series.
