Ever wonder about full moon names and their meaning? Or what types of energies could we indulge in with each full moon? Us too.

This month, we’ll be experiencing the “Super Buck Moon,” a moon that will appear 7 percent bigger than your average full moon. It’s set to be the largest of 2022 – so for those curious to watch, this is a great time to start!

For those interested in seeing the full moon at its peak, the specific time is 2:38 p.m. ET on July 13. However, sources cite that New York City residents could see the phenomenon at 4:55 a.m ET that same day. So put on your timer, bring out your binoculars or telescope, and enjoy the moon’s energy.

According to Almanac, the name comes from “a number of places, including Native American, Colonial American, and European sources. Traditionally, each full Moon name was applied to the entire lunar month it occurred, not solely to the full Moon.” Going by this, it’s known as the “Buck Moon” because male deer antlers – a.k.a. Bucks – are fully grown at this time.

What type of energy does this “Super Buck Moon” bring us? According to astrologer Ryan Marquardt: “[it] will have everyone comparing and contrasting their personal beliefs and needs with the larger collective issues going on in the world.”

Furthermore, the same source reveals that “this lunation is all about the proverbial long road to success; it’s about dissecting your game plan, working hard, and actualizing your long-term goals.”

So, what does that flesh out into? Let’s think about general questions that we can journal to. Let’s think about prompts we can sit and fully marinate in to improve the rest of 2022.

What can help us, as individuals, shape the rest of the year? Yes, the first half of the year is already ending, but that doesn’t mean that your goals from January mean any less. If anything, they should be reevaluated and reestablished – I mean, we’re not the same people we were seven months ago. We change.

With this in mind, what new ways can you exercise to make your goals come to life? What small goals can you achieve daily or weekly that will contribute to your long-term goals? Furthermore, how can these goals help your community at large?

Now, I know this may sound like a lot before the full moon, but it’s not something meant to be pressured about. These are prompts designed to help your higher self and receive the most from the moon’s energy. After all, nature’s the best medicine, isn’t it?
