Javiera Mena gives us a preview of her new album with the song “La Isla de Lesbos,” a lesbian anthem released just in time for Pride month.

As a preview of her new album “Nocturna,” which is scheduled for release on October 29th, Chilean singer and songwriter Javiera Mena released the video for her new single “La Isla de Lesbos.”

The song was composed in conjunction with Los Tres Kamikazes and is a very pop proposal impregnated with funk sounds, an air of the eighties, and full of synthesizer bass.

The video was directed by Michelle Gualda and portrays a place to celebrate the love between women. “La Isla de Lesbos” refers to a party where everyone would like to be and be free to love without prejudice. It refers to the Greek island in the northeastern Aegean Sea, known for being the home of the ancient Greek poet Sappho, the first homosexual poet in the history of humankind.

Javiera Mena stated on her Instagram account that she wanted to release the video during the full moon because it is when women’s energies are activated, and they can be more connected. She also stated that it is a tribute to all the people who are part of the LGBTQ+ community.
