Have you ever heard of the Sports Emmy Awards? They are awards with more than 40 categories that celebrate those who work hard to bring us the latest news about the world of sports, said Adam Sharp, president, and CEO of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).

The 43rd annual Sports Emmy Awards was held May 24 at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City and was the first ceremony since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among the winners was journalist Adriana Monsalve, who received the Outstanding On-Air Personality Award.

Adriana Monsalve’s career

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Adriana Monsalve began her career as a presenter on the program ‘Aló RCTV’ on the defunct television network Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) in her native country. In 2003, Monsalve decided to seek new opportunities and move to the United States.

Monsalve found his passion for sports when she began working for Telemundo in the United States, covering the MLB World Series and the Orlando Magic.

Her talent then opened new doors.

Adriana Monsalve decided to pursue her new dreams in Mexico, where she was part of ESPN, working as the host of the show Sports Center. She had the opportunity to interview great sports personalities such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Serena Williams, and David Beckham.

Monsalve’s career took off, and since then, she has been the host of another ESPN show called ‘Nación ESPN.’ Monsalve has been part of Univision Deportes, Televisa Deportes. It is currently part of ‘La Jugada,’ a show on TUDN (Televisa Univision Deportes Network), the TV channel launched in 2019 as a merger of the Televisa and Univision.

Monsalve has been nominated five times for the Sports Emmy Awards, and last Tuesday, she finally took the award home.
