2021 tecla awards terms & conditions

The Tecla Awards (the “Teclas”) recognizing top Latinx social media influencers is wholly owned and organized by NGL Collective (“NGL” or the “Company”).

General Information

The Teclas are open to the public who wish to nominate content creators and social media influencers and or creators (the “Creators”) who wish to nominate themselves in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined herein, for work created and published between January 1, 2020 - December 31, 2020. The Company shall also have the right to nominate Creators for consideration in its sole discretion.

Awards will be given to top Latinx Creators for the following categories;

  1. Breakout Star of the Year
  2. Creator of the Year
  3. Parenting
  4. Food & Cooking
  5. LGBTQ+
  6. Fashion and Beauty
  7. Comedy
  8. Social Good

The following 2021 Teclas dates are in place, but subject to change in the Company’s sole discretion:

  • Nomination entries open at 9:00am EST on August 5, 2021
  • Nomination entries close at 11:59pm EST on August 23, 2021
  • Finalists will be announced on September 15, 2021 (exact time TBD)
  • Winners will be announced on October 15, 2021(exact time TBD)

All nominee submissions must be done through Hispanicize.com (the “Website”). Entries will not be accepted via email or other channels unless the project officially announces it via Website or technical difficulties prevent the form or Website from receiving submissions. A committee of judges consisting of Latinx industry executives (the “Judges”) will select four (4) nominee finalists per category as well as one (1) winner per category with the exception of Creator of the Year, who will be selected by the public via a voting page on the Website. All judges will be listed on the Website, and are subject to change in the Company’s sole discretion.

For any individual submitting an Entry on the website, you are not allowed to upload and distribute any document which is confidential, defamatory, obscene, breaking personal privacy regulations, infringing copyright and intellectual property rights, violating legal rights of any party or proprietary to a brand, an individual or a company (except you, the person submitting the work in his/her name). We reserve the right to delete any offending material and remove the entries from the Awards.

Any individual submitting work by another content creator and or his/her work through the Website form cannot use false contact information details or identifying details, impersonating any person in order to mislead the Judges.

By submitting an Entry, you grant non-exclusive permission to Teclas organizers, sponsors and any members of the press / media to use name, image and the work submitted so that we may use it in producing and marketing the Awards. Example usages include articles in newspapers / magazines / websites / social media posts / blogs / the showcase section of our website; printed materials at our awards ceremonies; prints at exhibitions specifically related to the awards; projected and on-screen visuals at our ceremonies; videos and photos displaying winners; case studies and presentations related to these awards.

By submitting the Entry through the online form on the Website, you hereby confirm the work has been made public and we have the rights to distribute the content used in the work provided and that the content used does not violate any commercial and judicial laws. Full Terms and Conditions

1.0 Background

1.1 These terms and conditions (“Rules”) apply to entries submitted for Tecla Awards (the “Competition”) operating on our Website (the “Website”). By entering the Competition, you agree to be bound by these Rules.

1.2 The Competition is organized by the Company.

1.3 The Company reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition or the Rules if an event outside of our reasonable control occurs (e.g. a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God). We will display any changes on the Website.

1.4 The decision of the Company in relation to any dispute about the Rules, conduct, results and all other matters relating to the Competition is final and we will not enter into correspondence.

2.0 How to Enter

2.1 Employees of the Company and or members of the Tecla committee or any of their subsidiaries and associated companies, agents or members of their families or households, are not eligible to enter the Awards program competition.

2.2 The Competition is open to the public to submit work from content creators and or creators can submit their own work.

2.3 When uploading an Entry you must submit an image together with all of the other required fields on the Website about your work as applicable (the “Entry“).

You agree that your Entry:

  • (a) Will not feature or use any images or words that contain nudity or are in any way untrue, misleading, distasteful, blasphemous, obscene, libellous, defamatory, indecent, harassing or threatening;
  • (b) Will not contain any personal details about another person who is not an accredited creator of the work being entered (for example, their name, where they live or what they do);
  • (c) Will not contain any computer virus or other material that may be harmful to the Organiser’s computer systems.

2.4 The Company reserves the right to disqualify you if we have reasonable grounds to believe that you have breached any of the Rules.

2.5 If you are disqualified from the Competition we may select a replacement.

2.6 The Competition starts on August 5th and concludes on August 23rd. You can enter the Competition by uploading the work online through the submission form by the closing date of August 23rd. Nominees will be published on September 15th and winners will be announced on October 15th. The Company reserves the right to change these dates if necessary.

2.7 The Company is not responsible for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of or unauthorised access to Entries, or Entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of server functions, technical issues, virus, bugs or other causes outside our reasonable control.

2.8 Please keep a copy of your Entry as we will not be able to return them.

3.0 How Winners are Chosen

3.1 Winners will be selected from the nominees announced on September 15th during a special edition event hosted on the Website.

3.2 The best entries in each category will be displayed on the Website on September 15, 2021 as the list of nominee finalists. Winners will be announced on October 15, 2021.

3.3 A panel of Judges will choose a winner for each category with the exception of the Creator of the Year that will be selected by the voting public. Voting for the Creator of the Year will conclude on October 8, 2021.

3.4 The names and Entries of those who make it through to the nomination process and the eventual Competition winners will be published on the Website and may also be requested to take part in promotional activity. By entering you agree that the Company, their sponsor and members of the media has non-exclusive permission to use your Entry and/or your name, image and audio and/or visual recordings of you in any non-commercial publicity with due credit. End usage may include articles in newspapers / magazines / websites / social media posts / blogs / the showcase section of our website; printed materials at our awards ceremonies; prints at exhibitions specifically related to the awards projected and on-screen visuals at our ceremonies; videos and photos displaying winners; case studies, books and presentations related to these awards. In addition, the names of the winners and the judges are available on written request.

3.5 Any personal data relating to entrants will be used solely in accordance with US data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without your prior consent.

4.0 Use of Entries

4.1 By entering the competition, you confirm your Entry does not infringe any third party rights (including intellectual property and privacy rights).

4.2 You agree that the Company and third parties authorized on our behalf, including sponsor and media, may make your Entry available for non-commercial marketing or internal communications purposes related solely to the Awards. Example usage includes newspapers / magazines / websites / social media posts / blogs / the showcase section of our website; printed materials at our awards ceremonies; prints at exhibitions specifically related to the awards; projected and on-screen visuals at our ceremonies; videos and photos displaying winners; case studies, books and presentations related to these awards. At all times you retain full ownership and our usage is non-exclusive. If we receive a request to display work outside of these forms we will contact you to request explicit permission, giving full details of the mediums and materials where we would like to use the submitted work.

4.3 Winners agree to sign a release form in connection with their Entry, if requested by the Company.

4.4 The Company may also, in appropriate circumstances, and at its sole discretion, reject, edit, remove or disable access to Entries that appear to be legally or otherwise problematic e.g. infringe the copyright or other intellectual property or privacy rights of others, are defamatory etc. or for any other reason. Notwithstanding the above, the Company will endeavour to display all Entries in the showcase section of its site. The Organizer does not guarantee to display all Nominations as we must assess each Nomination for suitability and approach the third party creators of Nominated works for their permission.

5.0 Personal data

5.1 The Company will not collect any personally-identifiable information about you (your name, address, telephone number or email address (“personal data”) through the Website unless you have provided it to us through the registration form from the website.

5.2 No personal data will be shared with a third party without your prior consent.

6.0 Liability

6.1 The Company is not responsible for:

  • (a) any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by your entry into the Competition or as a result of accepting this recognition;
  • (b) any loss or damage that is not reasonably foreseeable; or
  • (c) any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer systems relating to their participation in the Competition.

7.0 General

7.1 The Competition and these Rules are governed by the Federal Communications Commission. The statutory provision regarding contests is set forth at Section 508 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended (the ``Act'') (47 U.S.C. § 509). Section 508(a) of the Act (47 U.S.C.. § 509(a)) provides that it is unlawful for any person, with intent to deceive the listening or viewing public.
